Introduction : Le thermalisme en France représente 500 000 patients chaque année. Le grand Dax accueille 60 000 curistes annuellement. L’Afreth, Association française pour la recherche thermale, oriente ces travaux sur le service médical rendu des cures thermales. Peu d’études cherchent à connaître leurs effets indésirables. Nous avons cherché à faire l’état des lieux des évènements graves rencontrés pendant une cure. Matériel et méthode : Nous avons analysé les données des urgences de Dax pendant les années 2016 et 2017 en observant les consultations de tous les patients curistes. Nous avons ensuite sélectionné les patients ayant présenté un événement grave que nous caractérisions par une hospitalisation. Enfin nous nous sommes intéressés aux pathologies cardiovasculaires et neurologiques en raison d’une fréquence de survenue élevée. Résultats : Sur les 122 579 curistes présents sur Dax au cours de l’année 2016 et 2017, 1 431 patients se sont présentés aux urgences. Parmi eux 260 ont été hospitalisés au terme de leur consultation. Les 3 pathologies les plus pourvoyeuses d’hospitalisations étaient la cardiologie avec 51 hospitalisations dont 10 syndromes coronariens aigus et 12 découvertes de fibrillation auriculaire. Ensuite, on trouve la traumatologie avec 44 hospitalisations puis la neurologie avec 43 hospitalisations dont 23 accidents vasculaires cérébraux. Discussion et conclusion : Cet état des lieux sur les événements graves rencontrés pendant une cure thermale permet d’établir un premier registre des pathologies contractées. Ce recueil s’est déroulé sur les 3 semaines de présence des patients en cure. L’analyse d’événements graves dans notre population de curistes dans les mois suivants leur cure permettrait d’avoir un reflet à long terme de l’impact de la cure thermale.

The Afreth, the French association for research in crenobalneotherapy, directs this work on the actual benefit of spa treatments. Few studies seek to know their undesirable adverse effects. We tried to make the inventory of the serious events encountered during a cure. Materials and method : We analyzed Dax emergency data during 2016 and 2017 by observing all patients' consultations. We then selected the patients who presented a serious event that we characterized by a hospitalization. Finally, we were interested in cardiovascular and neurological pathologies because of a high incidence of occurrence Results : Of the 122,579 patients on Dax during 2016 and 2017, 1,431 patients presented to the emergency department. Of these, 260 were hospitalized after their consultation. The 3 most supportive hospitalizations were cardiology with 51 hospitalizations including 10 acute coronary syndromes and 12 atrial fibrillation findings. Then, traumatology with 44 hospitalizations and finally neurology with 43 hospitalizations of which 23 cerebrovascular accidents. Discussion and conclusion : This inventory of serious events encountered during a spa treatment establishes a first register of contracted pathologies. This collection took place on the 3 weeks of presence of the patients in cure. The analysis of serious events in our spa population in the months following their cure would provide a long-term reflection of the impact of the spa treatment.
