La ville de Nouakchott connaît depuis sa création une démographie et une urbanisation spectaculaires qui demandaient plus d’eau potable produisant beaucoup d’eaux usées. En raison du manque d’infrastructures d’assainissement liquide pour la collecte et le traitement de ces dernières pour pallier les effets néfastes, l’insalubrité s’est installée progressivement. Elle est aggravée par la stagnation récente pendant l’hivernage d’eaux pluviales polluées. L’avènement de l’alimentation en eau potable de Nouakchott par le fleuve Sénégal a intensifié la consommation d’eau et la production d’eaux usées qui a posé une problématique aiguë, nécessitant une résolution urgente. Dans cet article, l’examen de ces eaux usées est effectué pour cerner les pollutions et effets néfastes induits et de faire ressortir après traitement, leurs aptitudes à la réutilisation dans le maraîchage urbain.

The city of Nouakchott has known a spectacular demography and urbanization since its creation which demanded more drinking water producing a lot of wastewater. Due to the lack of liquid sanitation infrastructure for the collection and treatment of the latter to mitigate the harmful effects, unhealthiness has gradually settled. It is aggravated by the recent stagnation during the wintering of polluted rainwater. The advent of the supply of drinking water to Nouakchott by the Senegal River, intensified water consumption and the production of wastewater, which posed an acute problem, requiring urgent resolution. In this article, the examination of this wastewater is carried out to identify the pollution and harmful effects induced and to bring out after treatment, their ability to reuse in urban market gardening.
