RésuméLa transmission suppose un manque à transmettre. L’auteur propose de distinguer trois registres de ce reste qui échappe à la transmission tout en signifiant l’altérité radicale qui la fonde : l’ordre biologique impose la division et la combinatoire génétique la perte nécessaire à la reproduction sexuée. Le biologique, substrat de l’imaginaire sur la filiation permet de reprendre dans le langage ce qui est transmis et ce qui ne l’est pas, dans la confusion fréquente de l’héritabilité et de la transmissibilité ; la non-transmission historique, accidentelle, et particulière, interroge la position subjective des protagonistes, c’est-à-dire le fantasme soutenant l’impossibilité ou le refus de la transmission ; l’intransmissible de structure est la conséquence logique de notre prise dans l’ordre du langage et de la parole. Tout n’est pas symbolisable même si nous ne pouvons pas faire autrement que de symboliser. Mais c’est le paradoxe de la transmission de transmettre qu’il y a de l’intransmissible. La transmission concerne la position symbolique de celui qui donne et qui reçoit dans le même temps, entendable cliniquement dans l’après-coup de notre écoute non de son objet (énoncé) mais de son rapport à l’autre (énonciation).

Transmission supposes an impossibility to transmit or lack of transmission. The author proposes to distinguish three registers to apprehend that which escapes transmission, while at the same time signifying the radical otherness upon which it is founded : the biological order imposes the division and the genetic combination, the loss that is necessary for sexual reproduction. Substrate of the imaginary concerning filiation, the biological order permits the recapturing in language of that which is transmitted and that which is not, in the midst of the frequent confusion between inheritability and transmissibility ; the historical non-transmission, accidental, and particular, questions the subjective position of the protagonists, i.e. the phantasm which underpins the impossibility or the refusal of transmission ; the non transmittable of structure is the logical consequence of being held in / to the order of language and speech. All cannot be symbolised, even if we cannot do otherwise. Yet it is the very paradox of transmission to transmit that there is that which cannot be transmitted. Transmission implies the symbolic stance of s/he who gives and receives in the same moment, which can be understood clinically in the after-math of our listening not to the object (wording/content) but of her/his relationship to the other (enunciation).
