Strongly inspired by the Silicon Valley model, the innovation cluster has led to numerous initiatives aimed at bringing together laboratories, companies and training establishments in the same area and around the same project. This is particularly true of the biotechnology clusters created at the end of the 1990s and studied in this thesis, which reveal a more nuanced reality of interactions between science and industry, going beyond the idea that geographical proximity mechanically favours innovation. This research has been extended by more recent investigations into innovations in oncology in the context of precision medicine and the dynamics of industrialisation between hospitals and the pharmaceutical industry. The aim of this paper is therefore to follow the itinerary of healthcare innovations in different intermediation mechanisms between science and industry: from bioclusters to clinical trials in French hospitals.

Fortement inspiré du modèle de la Silicon Valley, le cluster d’innovation a conduit à de nombreuses initiatives visant à regrouper, sur un même territoire et autour d’un projet, des laboratoires, des entreprises et des établissements de formation. C’est notamment le cas des clusters de biotechnologie créés à la fin des années 1990 étudiés dans la thèse et qui révèlent une réalité plus nuancée des interactions entre science et industrie, allant au-delà de l’idée que la proximité géographique favorise mécaniquement l’innovation. Cette recherche a été prolongée d’enquêtes plus récentes sur les innovations en cancérologie dans le cadre de la médecine de précision et de dynamiques d’industrialisation entre hôpitaux et industrie pharmaceutique. Cette communication vise donc à suivre l’itinéraire des innovations en santé dans différents dispositifs d’intermédiation entre science et industrie : des bioclusters jusqu’aux essais cliniques dans les hôpitaux en France.
