Public hospitals and the challenge of enhancing their attractiveness

Par : Type de matériel : TexteTexteLangue : français Détails de publication : 2023. Sujet(s) : Ressources en ligne : Abrégé : The article invites us to open the “black box” of the attractiveness of hospital professions. In the hospital sector, attractiveness depends on three complementary and inseparable factors: remuneration, quality of professional practice, and access to excellent equipment and technical facilities. The quest for attractiveness has become the number one issue and was at the heart of the 2020 “Ségur de la santé” health care negotiations. Although differences in remuneration and constraints between sectors have not been structurally corrected, it is the care professions that have seen their attractiveness enhanced by the crisis, with renewed legitimacy, higher training quotas, and higher salaries. Faced with the foreseeable increase in demand for care, in the context of an aging population and the rise of chronic diseases, we need to build on this attractiveness policy to launch a human resources battle plan, containing recruitment targets and focusing on improved working conditions, enhanced cooperation, and strengthened career paths.
