Symbole de la modernisation et du progrès, le train est un élément important de l’imaginaire contemporain, un opérateur de rêves et de formes urbaines. Toutefois, le train est aussi un support aux projections politiques les plus complexes quand il s’agit de produire de nouveaux récits métropolitains. En témoigne notre recherche sur le Grand Paris Express ( gpe), ce futur mode de locomotion, qui suscite toutes les convoitises politiques. Car, sous l’asphalte, l’enjeu est évidemment le « schéma d’ensemble » qui présidera à l’organisation spatiale de la métropole parisienne pour les décennies à venir. Nous montrerons sous cet angle comment les discours actuels sur le train, et plus spécifiquement le gpe, tracent les grandes lignes, souvent utopiques, des nouveaux récits de la « Ville Lumière ».

The new narratives of the «City of lights» at the time of globalizationAs a symbol of modernity and progress, the train is an important part of the contemporary imagination, undertaking dreams and urban shapes. Nevertheless, it also sustains complex political projections, when it comes to creating new metropolitan narratives - as has shown our research on the Grand Paris Express ( gpe); this future way of locomotion, arising political interests. Beneath the concrete, what is at stake is the “global outline” which will orientate the spatial organization of the Parisian metropolis for the decades to come. From this perspective, we will show how the current speeches regarding the train and especially the gpe, design the general architecture of the - often utopian - new narratives of the “Ville-lumière”.
