520			_aRésuméL’hypothèse générique est déterminante pour l’interprétation d’un texte. Tout d’abord, le lecteur détermine si le livre lu est un ouvrage de fiction ou un documentaire, ce qui dans le cas de la littérature fantastique horrifique conduit à l’acception ou au rejet du texte. Puis il détermine dans quel genre s’inscrit le roman : s’il considère qu’il lit un roman policier, cette hypothèse de genre va guider son interprétation des actions du récit et sa recherche du coupable. Il arrive parfois que deux genres co-existent au sein d’un même texte. Selon le genre dans lequel le lecteur insère le récit, son interprétation des personnages variera grandement.

If the reader decides he is reading fiction or documentary, his reading belief makes him accept or refuse a text, for instance in the case of a horror story. If the reader determinates the kind of fiction he is reading is a detective novel, the reading process and his choice of guilty character may be really different if he is more interested by the text or the game of the author. But a novel can mix to generic and the interpretation of the character depends how the reader considers the book: as a novel or as a tale for instance.

Para empezar, el lector determina si el libro leído es una obra de ficción o un reportaje, lo que en el caso de la literatura fantástica horroriza, conduce a la aceptación o al rechazo del texto. Luego determina en qué género se inscribe la novela: si considera que lee una novela policíaca, esta hipótesis de género guiara su interpretación de las acciones de la trama, así como su búsqueda del culpable. Sucede a veces que dos géneros coexistan dentro de un mismo texto. Según el género en el cual el lector inscribe la intriga, su interpretación de los personajes variara de manera importante.
