Le rattachement de la gendarmerie au ministère de l’Intérieur et les rapprochements organisationnels et culturels des deux institutions apparaissent comme des facteurs de remise en cause de ce dualisme policier. Ses justifications et fondements n’ont pas permis d’empêcher une reconfiguration de cette police étatique bicéphale, avec une perspective de fusion police-gendarmerie, dans un contexte marqué par l’irruption de nouveaux acteurs dans le champ de la sécurité.
520			_aThis article provides an analysis of the hybridisation process in France of the two state police forces, the gendarmerie and the police nationale. The fact the gendarmerie is attached to the Ministry of the Interior and the organisational and cultural links between the two institutions raise questions about the French police system. Its justifications and foundations have not prevented a reconfiguration of this dualistic system in a context of the appearance of new players in the field of public safety, with the prospect of a merger between the police and the gendarmerie.
