520			_aGuidés par des aspirations, les étudiants en soins infirmiers s’engagent en formation avec une représentation idéalisée de la profession, que les expériences qu’ils seront appelés à connaître au long de leur cursus vont progressivement modifier. La formation initiale des infirmières repose sur une organisation pédagogique par alternance, qui permet la confrontation à une palette de figures identitaires. Ce processus de socialisation engagé sur les trois ans d’études est marqué par une période de crise en deuxième année.Il s’agit d’une crise identitaire qui se traduit par une transformation des motivations. L’analyse montre qu’elle est structurelle. L’entrée en deuxième année se caractérise chez l’étudiant par l’installation dans la dualité entre le modèle idéal et le modèle réel. Elle est le résultat d’un an d’expériences et de savoirs qui remettent en question ses représentations, ses croyances, et l’oriente vers une nouvelle conception de soi et du monde. Cette prise de conscience d’une incongruité, ce choc de la réalité est suivi d’une « installation dans l’inauthentique ».Ce conflit propre à la deuxième année s’avère nécessaire, sinon la transformation identitaire serait compromise. Lorsque l’étudiant se trouve engagé dans une formation qui ne contribue pas à la réalisation de ses aspirations et le met en porte-à-faux vis à vis de son modèle de référence, l’issue possible est l’absentéisme ou l’opposition. La gestion de cette crise identitaire et du processus motivationnel sous-tend une reconsidération, en qualité de formateur, de nos manières de penser et d’agir. Sommes-nous réellement préparés à gérer cette crise ? Disposons-nous des champs théoriques adaptés à la résolution de ce conflit cognitif ?
520			_aNursing students, guided by aspirations, begin training with an idealised representation of the profession, and the experiences they will encounter during their studies will vary progressively. Nursing training is based initially on a pedagogical system alternating between the classroom and the work place, exposing the student to a variety of situations. This process of work experience during the three years of study is marked by a crisis period during the second year.This involves an identity crisis resulting in a change of objectives. The analysis indicates that this is structural. The beginning of the second year is characterised by the student’s confrontation with the theoretical and practical applications of the course. It is the result of a year’s experience and instruction, which puts into question the student’s vision, beliefs, and the orientation towards a new conception of himself/herself and of the world. The realisation of an incongruity, this reality check, is followed by a feeling of deception.This conflict, common in the second year, must be recognised in order to avoid further compromise to the identity’s transformation. As soon as the student finds himself/herself committed to a training program that does not contribute to the realisation of his/her objectives, the feeling of being thrown off balance in relation to his/her point of reference increases, and the end result will be absenteeism or opposition. The handling of this identity crisis, as well as the motivational procedure, implies a modification in the quality of the instructor and in our way of thinking and acting. Are we adequately prepared to manage this crisis? Do we have access to the theories needed to resolve this cognitive conflict?
