By mobilizing the notion of ‘cartographic violence’, the paper shows how the logics of exclusion and invisibilization of Indigenous people have been materialized in maps and in “real life”, and how this has constituted a background logic, still relevant today, of the construction of modern Argentina. The analysis of three maps, made between 1901 and 2016, which represent the portion of the Argentine Chaco corresponding to the eastern part of the province of Salta, reveals the preservation and reproduction of State’s strategies of indigenous domination, despite a changing socio-political context. | ||
