To understand how these are experienced by these subjects, solitude will first be developed via D.W. Winnicott, from the capacity to be alone and difficulties of its construction. Secondly will be presented the future of this capacity and its difficulties during ageing: at first in its generational dimension, then its institutional dimension. Then, this article will consider isolation and its connection with solitude in the case of driving and sensory disorders on one hand, and in late cognitive disorders on the other. Throughout these developments, solitude and isolation will be linked with the ability of professionals to support the solitude or isolation that elderly people face.
