520 _a‪For six centuries after its birth in Ibn Isḥāq’s Sīra Nabawiyya in the second/eighth century, the ḫabar which recounts Ḫālid b. al-Walīd’s expedition to the Banū Ǧaḏīma kept reappearing in works belonging to a variety of literary genres. This study describes the transfigurations undergone by this narrative through the carousel of versions that followed one another over time in order to question the reasons for the choices made by the authors of these different versions in transforming the themes of the narrative and to try to deduce from this example a more general paradigm that could be extended to other narratives.‪
