| 520 | _aThe American pragmatist philosopher John Dewey (1859–1952) did not deal directly with the theme of “collective emotion” in his work. However, from his early psychological writings, he seemed to assign an important place to individual emotion as a psychological function that plays a driving role in the development of human behaviour. Thus, the purpose of this article is to analze how it might be possible to understand the tools of Dewey’s psychology within a collective framework, and, consequently, what the meaning and function of a so-called “collective” emotion might be in the context of what Dewey calls a “democratic experience.” | ||
