520 _aThe aim of this article is to assess the impact of the food distribution programme during the Covid-19 pandemic on the consumption and food security of households in Dakar. A quasi-experimental approach based on the Propensity Score Matching (PSM) and Difference-in-Differences (DD) was used on a representative sample of 640 households. The results show that the programme had a positive and significant impact on per capita expenditure and enabled beneficiary households to maintain their number of daily meals. Robustness analysis produced similar results, although the magnitude of the impact varied according to the specification. The study also revealed a low level of programme effectiveness and a significant lack of targeting. JEL Codes: D04, C54, H53, I38.
