520 _aIn the face of the resurgence of conflicts related to access to pastoral resources and with the aim of adapting access to agro-pastoral resources for pastoralists in Chad, traditional prevention and management mechanisms exist. In recent years, new mechanisms have been added, such as prevention and mediation committees set up by associations, NGOs, and the state. This article presents a detailed review of these mechanisms. Some of them have proven their effectiveness locally, but overall, they struggle to positively transform conflicts in a lasting way. Ultimately, we must rethink local governance in terms of land management and above all strengthen the capacities of communities and grassroots actors in terms of mediation and negotiation. This will allow them to positively transform the conflicts in a context respectful of the socio-cultural diversities of the actors in conflict.
