520 _a‪In the Islamic Republic of Iran, few films have questioned how religious practices and rituals structuring society were observed in everyday life, and how popular beliefs influenced the dogmatic relationship to religion. This is what Kamâl Tabrizi did, however, by using burlesque characters in Leyli is with me (1996), which takes place on the battlefields and observes from a distance the sacred space represented by the front during the Iran-Iraq war (1980-1988) and in The Lizard (2004), which shows the relationship to dogma and the ways of living religion in the Iranian daily live.‪
