520 _aThose who are alcohol-dependent do not only try to overcome a dependency to an insufficiently introjected object, but at the same time try to drown an unbearable internal excitement, for lack of a sufficiently operant repression.Through two clinical illustrations, this article highlights the lack of transitionality with the alcoholic patient and, in the same time, the complex function of alcohol addiction : a pseudo transitional object which tries at once to fill emptiness and to neutralise an invasive and over-exciting internal object.
