520 _a« Pre-teens and ethnic differences. Acceptance or rejection of the other ? » Are pre-teens belonging to the culturally prevailing group in France, attracted by their peers from different ethnic groups or rejecting them ? This is what this experimental study, led in a primary school, is trying to point out. The experimental process has been built on Norman H. Anderson’s cognitive theory. We asked pupils if they would be happy to welcome a new schoolmate in their classroom. This new pupil was presented with ethnic differences (skin colour, geographical origin, language, parent’s religion). The results inform us on the ability to accept the Other. These young teenagers do not seem to be sensitive to « ethnic » characteristics.
