520 _aThis article examines a new type of mediation of rebellious writing in the urban public space, related to “Occupy” protest events. The three conditions of this “carnivalesque mediation” on, in, and through the space of occupation will allow us to analyze practices of public writing during the events of Occupy Gezi (Istanbul, 2013) and Nuit Debout (Paris, 2016). This article offers a first look at carnivalesque mediation and its “wild” writing during an event as a form that appears both individual and collective, archaic and current, and harmonic and cacophonous.
