520 _aThis article proposes an analysis of the “bookporn” phenomenon on Instagram, which consists of a book display according to a certain number of implicit visual criteria, structured both by the practices of the Internet users and the editorial framework of the platform. The aim will be to show that the “poetic” effects of these iconographies abide closely with the norms set by the apparatus, rather than reversing them. In this respect, the presence of the book on Instagram is not a process of subverting social network logics, but appears to be a specific variation of the potential themes proposed by Instagram. Through the practices of “bookporn,” the question arises as to what literature does to social networks, but also of what social networks do to the representation of the literary.
