520 _aCyprian’s Epistulae display a vast lexical field of power, notably abstract substantives with suffix in tas which feature the main Roman political notions in classical language. Taking into account their common sense, the determinative constructions linked to them, and using the technique of semic analysis, we propose to bring their meaning out in this correspondence and to define each one by distinguishing and comparing it to the others, thus putting in evidence Cyprian’s willpower as he addresses his fellow bishops.
