We explore this vein here, by showing that one focuses (ou is focused) on the link to the object, the other on the place. This was to be the case as soon as the Other was recognized as non-existent, and the idea of a sexual relationship with him ruled out. Certain concepts deemed essential to contemporary analytic practice are no longer self-evident: image, fantasy, trauma, sexuality. They are revisited here. It was necessary when, turning his back on Freud, Lacan declared that the Freudian thing has the property of being asexual.
