She established herself in a male dominated and clerical environment where the presence of women was not self-evident. She belongs to that generation of women who discreetly entered the narrow circle of theological and biblical studies. Some are married, mothers, and hold degrees in exegesis and ancient languages, others are religious and single, sent by their congregation. At the end of the twentieth century, the theological field faced questions of gender. While women were able to become Doctors of the Church, the sexus obstat was also lifted within theological institutions. Donna Singles’s life story reveals the opportunities and challenges she faced in making a woman’s voice heard within the male-dominated field of Catholic theology at a Lyon faculty renowned for both its professors and cutting-edge research. Elle s’est imposée au milieu d’un univers masculin et clérical où la présence de femmes n’allait pas de soi.
