| 520 | _aThe aim of this article is to offer an overview of the research about the impact of eating disorders (ED) on caregivers. Research studies describe the daily impact of ED on the life of caregivers as: constantly facing the symptoms, worsening of relationships with the afflicted individual, and stigmatization. They also evidence the emotional impact and the psychological distress of the caregivers, as well as the needs generated by the emergence of the ED: mainly needs for information, guidance, and social and emotional support. The research highlights the importance to take the caregivers’ experience into account when providing treatment to the patients, and suggests new ideas about how to involve the caregivers in treatment. | ||
| 520 | _aEl objetivo de este artículo es presentar un panorama de los resultados de las investigaciones, esencialmente cualitativas y anglófonas, que han estudiado el impacto de los trastornos de la conducta alimentaria en los cuidadores informales (non professional caregivers en inglés). Las investigaciones consultadas describen el impacto de estos trastornos en la vida cotidiana de los cuidadores: confrontación permanente con los síntomas, deterioro de las relaciones con el paciente y estigmatización. Señalan también los impactos emocionales y el sufrimiento psicológico que viven los cuidadores, así como las necesidades generadas por la aparición de los trastornos: principalmente necesidades de información, orientación y apoyo social y emocional. Resaltan la importancia de tener en cuenta la experiencia de los cuidadores informales en el tratamiento de los trastornos de la conducta alimentaria y plantean nuevas posibilidades para su implicación en los protocolos de tratamiento. | ||
