520 _aL’Information Psychiatrique was founded in 1945 as the successor to the former bulletin L’Aliéniste français. It was the result of a convergence of events and protagonists brought about by the Second World War, the German occupation of France, and the liberation. It accompanied the birth of the first French union of psychiatrists and their desire to reform the asylum system. In record time, four issues were published between August and December 1945. The journal became an important actor in the design, birth, and implementation of the “sectorization policy” of French public psychiatry in the second half of the twentieth century. The seeds of all this were sown in the issues published during its first year and were the result of the intellectual concerns of protagonists acting at an exceptional moment in history.
