520 _aStudying the emotional impact of separations between migrant mothers, their children entrusted to the country of origin and those born in the host country sheds light on a significant issue within medico-social institutions. This article aims to analyse some of the effects of these separations based on the analysis of five interviews with migrant mothers and through a qualitative analysis method. The parameters highlighted are those that influence the child custody options for children at the time of departure from the country of origin, the depressive consequences for mothers of long-term separations and their effects on the interrelationships between brothers and sisters. The absence of a proximal link with children entrusted leads mothers to resort to strategies for handing on educational cultural values to maintain links between siblings.
