520 _aHow can we understand the diversity of practices, models, and meanings associated with collective gardening in public spaces? While the political and institutional context in which these gardens are situated is important, the form they take and the logic of action that guides them are not predetermined: They are constituted over time and through interactions, shaped by processes of emergence, adaptation, and institutionalization. In this article, we compare two gardens in Mexico City, suggesting that distinct logics of action are developing there: “acting for oneself” and “acting together.”
