By presenting two inquiries on the upper classes, we highlight the methodological pitfalls linked to the difficulty of criticizing a social group to which one feels one belongs. The text argues for greater objectivization of these interview relationships, as well as a reflection on the distantiation methods to be employed in the collection and exploitation of data.
