Despite the opposition of their perspectives, Sartrean subjectivism and Patočkian asubjectivism converge in the importance they both ascribe to the body within human experience. What’s more, human experience is not exhausted in the horizontal dimension of its relation to the world and, to be fully grasped, needs to be expanded in the direction of a verticalization, which can be made manifest by the concept of desire.
