520			_aRésuméL’expression de fermeture du paysage, si elle désigne à la fois un phénomène matériel (l’extension spatiale de la végétation ligneuse) et la façon dont il est vécu par les usagers des espaces concernés (sentiment d’oppression...), est aussi en elle-même le produit d’une construction sociale. Née avec la question environnementale dans les années 1970, elle connaît son apogée dans les années 1980, lors d’un conflit où se renégocient les significations à attribuer aux changements affectant les espaces ruraux. Puis elle devient une norme d’appréciation de l’évolution de ces espaces, appelant un paradigme d’aménagement, l’ ouverture. Ce paradigme serait complémentaire, et non antagonique, de celui qui prône la réintroduction de l’arbre dans les systèmes de production agricole.

It is also the product of a social construct. This construct emerged with concerns over the environment in the 1970s and reached its height in the 1980s during a conflict where the meanings of the changes affecting rural spaces were renegotiated. It then became a standard for the evaluation and evolution of these spaces, leading to a regional development paradigm of openness. This paradigm is theoretically complementary, not antagonistic, to that of promotion the reintroduction of trees into farming systems.
