Hemingway identifies a commemorative monument for victory in Games, with the silhouette of a Nike on the right thigh, and an artificial black patina on the hoofs and rider’s flesh. – Problems of theme, typology, date and authenticity posed by the Acts of the 16th International Bronzes Congress (IBC) in Bucarest, 2003. – The book by C. Mattusch on the Villa of the Papyri in Herculaneum (the Getty Museum in Malibu is a copy of the villa) deals with the marble and bronze sculpture as a collection rather than « programme » : first part on the discovery and history of the sculptures, then technical, radiography, alloys, repairs.
