C’est ce biais qui permet l’observation et le recueil d’une histoire orale.

This oblique approach favoured observation and collecting stories over asking straightforward questions. 520			_aZusammenfassungDie Untersuchung an Ort und Stelle konzentrierte sich auf das Umfeld, in dem sich die Mafia entwickelte : die direkte örtliche Szene der grossen Landgüter und die ausgedehnteren Netze von Verwandtschaften, Freundschaften und Klientismus, durch welche die Bewohner mit der weiteren Umwelt verbunden waren. Dieser indirekte Zugang stützte sich mehr auf die Beobachtung und die Sammlung von Geschichten als auf offene Befragung. Dieses ungezielte und dem Zufall unterworfene Vorgehen vermied das Betreten oder die absichtliche Schaffung von Minenfeldern.
