Sous des motivations politiques, religieuses ou esthétiques, la représentation est au cœur du débat. Le scandale, subi par l’artiste au xixe siècle, se voit réemployé par lui-même au cours du xxe siècle, faisant ainsi évoluer la nature même du scandale dans l’histoire de l’art.
520			_aSculpture in public space has been the subject of many scandals, especially in the 19th and 20th centuries. Why and how does it create so much controversy? Whether for political, religious or aesthetic motivations, the concept of representation is at the heart of the debate. The scandal, of which the 19th century artist was a victim, saw itself recycled repeatedly over the course of the 20th century, thus allowing the very nature of scandal to evolve in the history of public sculpture.
