| 520 | _aRésuméAlors que la partie la plus utilisée de Über den Prozess der Zivilisation est « la civilisation des mœurs » à proprement parler, cet article propose de revenir sur le long chapitre introductif du livre de Norbert Elias qui traite de l’histoire sociale des concepts de culture et de civilisation, concepts fortement marqués par la fragilité historique des différents contextes historiques dans lesquels ces notions s’inscrivent. Avant de comprendre l’originalité de Norbert Elias, il s’agira de préciser les diverses définitions françaises qui, à la fois en histoire et en sociologie, à partir de la fin des années 1920, avec Lucien Febvre et Marcel Mauss, ont donné une seconde vie à la notion de civilisation. Il y a là un premier élément qui permet d’éclairer la réception décalée de ce livre de Norbert Elias, pour la première fois recensé en France dans L’Année sociologique, en 1941, sous la plume de Raymond Aron. | ||
