520 _aThe issue of parenthood in the contexts of conjugal separation and family reorganization is closely connected to that of co-parenting. The co-parental relationship refers to the way in which parents coordinate and support each other in their parental roles. Following conjugal separation, parents have to renegotiate clear boundaries between the conjugal and co-parental roles, and manage the subsequent family reorganizations. The objective of our study was to analyze the effects of several factors (the post-conjugal relation between the parents, the arrival of a new conjugal partner) on co-parental dynamics between the parents. We collected data on 80 parents of children aged between 3½ and 12 years of age, through several self-administered questionnaires. The main results showed that the post-conjugal relation is linked to the quality of the co-parental relationship. Our discussion of the results addresses their implications for the development of the child in these specific family contexts.
