Il faudra cependant corriger les divergences persistantes en matière de perception des menaces, de stratégie et de priorités militaires pour nourrir une pleine coopération. Malgré une convergence suffisante d’intérêts et d’appréciation, Washington restera hésitant à traiter l’Europe comme un partenaire à part entière tant qu’elle n’aura pas montré une volonté de s’impliquer davantage dans la gestion de la sécurité internationale.

However, sustaining effective transatlantic security cooperation over the next decade will require narrowing lingering Europe-American differences over threat perceptions, strategy, and military priorities. If there is sufficient commonality of assessments and interests, Washington will remain reluctant to treat Europe as a full partner until it demonstrates a willingness to take on additional burdens of managing global security.
