BC remained a source of inspiration for sculptors of the late Hellenistic period, although they gradually orientated their work towards the Roman private market. This evolution led to the adoption in the workshops of new methods and the creation of new artistic forms in order to meet the needs of their new clients, who were fond of Greek art, but also eager to express their religious and political preoccupations through their collections: miniaturization, serial production, combination of motifs from different traditions, and free perspective were all means used to reinterpret Greek forms and ultimately create a genuinely Roman art of landscape. | ||
