520			_aRésuméAu cours des dernières années, la question de la dynamique culturelle est revenue à l’avant-plan des préoccupations. Les travaux qui en traitent se caractérisent souvent par une approche essentiellement théorique. Il nous semble plus fructueux d’examiner ces questions à partir de cas réels. Dans cette perspective, nous retracerons la « biographie » de Halloween, une fête tiraillée entre un récit d’origine, qui affirme sa persistance millénaire, et une histoire récente, faite de transformations successives. Nous suivrons sa trajectoire depuis son apparition aux Temps modernes dans les îles anglo-irlandaises jusqu’à ses avatars contemporains, en passant par son implantation aux États-Unis et au Canada à la fin du xixe siècle. Cette analyse mettra en évidence qu’une des conditions de la persistance de cette célébration est justement la grande plasticité des usages qui lui sont associés.
520			_aSince the past few years cultural dynamics is again a central concern. Approach to the problem is predominantly theoretical. The author considers that it is more fruitful to examine it on the basis of real cases. From this perspective he gives a « biography » of Halloween, a celebration based on both an original account that affirms its millenary existence and a recent story made of successive transformations. He studies its evolution from its appearance in Modern Times in the Anglo-Irish islands to its implantation in the United States and Canada in the late 19th century and to its present-day avatars. His analysis points out that one of the conditions for the perpetuation of this celebration is precisely the great flexibility of the uses connected to it.
520			_aZusammenfassungSeit den letzten Jahren ist die Frage der kulturellen Dynamik wieder in den Vordergrund gerückt und wird überwiegend theoretisch behandelt. Es scheint dem Autor mehr fruchtbar, diese Frage auf der Basis wirklicher Fälle zu untersuchen. Aus dieser Perspektive gibt er eine « Biographie » von Halloween, einer Feier, die sowohl auf einer originalen Erzählung, die ihre tausendjährige Fortdauer behauptet, als auch auf einer neueren Geschichte beruht, die aus sukzessiven Umgestaltungen besteht. Er verfolgt ihre Entwicklung von ihrer Erscheinung in der Neuzeit in den anglo-irischen Inseln, über ihre Einbürgerung am Ende des 19. Jahrhunderts in den Vereinigten Staaten und im Kanada, bis zu ihren heutigen Wandlungen. Seine Analyse hebt hervor, dass eine der Bedingungen für die Fortdauer dieser Feier gerade die grosse Anpassungsfähigkeit der mit ihr verbundenen Bräuche ist.
