La biopolitique de Foucault et d’Agamben, l’anthropologie médicale critique, les nouvelles perspectives d’une anthropologie du politique, la généalogie critique du développement et la prise de parole des acteurs humanitaires, deviennent les pistes d’une réflexion plus complexe proposée par les deux auteures engagées sur des terrains de recherche paradigmatiques pour tracer les limites de l’humanitaire.

Drawing on field experience on sites paradigmatic for defining the boundaries of humanitarianism, the two authors explore how Foucault’s and Agamben’s concepts of biopolitics, critical medical anthropology, a new perspective of critic of development and the increasingly vocal discourse of humanitarian actors themselves have all informed a nuanced and complex understanding of humanitarian action.
