| 520 | _aRÉSUMÉ L’article se propose, à travers le réexamen d’un dossier concernant une famille d’alleutiers lombards du IXe siècle, les Leopegisi, de poser les problèmes de l’appauvrissement paysan à la fin du IXe siècle. Fortement endettés, confrontés à la politique d’acquisitions particulièrement agressive du monastère de Saint-Ambroise de Milan, ces gros paysans, membres d’une élite villageoise, élaborent des stratégies de résistance. Celles-ci passent par la restriction des mariages des garçons, l’organisation du célibat d’une fille et, in fine, par des modifications dans les règles de succession dans le patrimoine. Une pratique s’ébauche alors qui conduit à exclure les cadets et les filles de l’héritage au bénéfice d’un et d’un seul garçon, contrairement aux dispositions du droit lombard. Le mécanisme d’appauvrissement n’est cependant pas enrayé mais seulement ralenti, les membres de la famille se trouvant, à la fin du siècle, dans la dépendance de l’abbaye. | ||
| 520 | _aABSTRACT Through the analysis of the dossier of a Lombard family of alleutiers – the Leopegisi – this paper aims to put the problem of the peasant’s impoverishment during the second half of the 9th century. Highly indebted, faced to the very aggressive buying politic of the monastery of Saint-Ambroise in Milan, these weathy peasants, members of the village elite, build a resistance strategy. This strategy passes through the boys restriction to marriage, the organisation of the girls celibacy and a substantial modification in the rules of inheritance of the patrimony. A practice is then outlined, that leads to expel the youngest boys and the girls from the inheritance, in profit of one boy only, contrary to the Lombard law. The impoverishment mechanism is not stopped but only slowed down, being the members of the family in the dependency of the abbey. | ||
