| 520 | _aTranq or zombie drug is a drug that most commonly combines xylazine and fentanyl. This addiction has become a scourge in the USA where the number of overdoses related to this consumption has increased exponentially since 2018. These two substances are the cause of mainly neurological effects with motor inertia, dysarthria and temporo-spatial disorientation, cutaneous effects with ulcers due to tissue hypoperfusion, but also cardiovascular effects with bradycardia and hypotension, and respiratory depression. Health professionals treating these patients must take action on withdrawal but also be aware of the ineffectiveness of naloxone to counteract the adverse effects. | ||
