S’appuyant sur des travaux universitaires pluridiscipli-naires, elle s’attache à envisager les visages successifs que le maire de Lille – Pierre Mauroy (1973-1995) – a revêtus : maire « bâtisseur », maire « animateur », élu « entrepreneur ». Elle entend également montrer en quoi le grand projet urbain Euralille, sorti de terre sous sa mandature, est en quelque sorte un « retour vers le futur » ; une opération qui s’inscrit à la fois comme l’héritière de projets très anciens et comme leur contre-projet ou leur « repentir ». | ||

Relying on cross-disciplinary academic research, it aims at appraising the successive images that Pierre Mauroy – Mayor of Lille (1973-1995) – left of himself : that of a « builder » mayor, « impulse-giving » mayor, politician and « manager ». This paper intends also to show to what extent the major Euralille urban program, lifted from the ground during his mandate, is somehow a « return to the future » ; a program that is presented as both the heir of vary ancient projects and as their counter-project or their « repentance ». | ||
