520 | _aMediation is a new profession in social intervention based on the ethical communication and neutrality of a third party without decision-making power. The mediator prevents and manages interpersonal conflicts or conflict between individuals and an institution. However, the concept of mediation is often confused with other concepts (negotiation, conciliation, transaction, arbitration). The objective of this overview is therefore to clarify the concept of mediation and to examine its models (pragmatic, attributive, specialized, and professional) and its approaches (horizontal and vertical). Mediation applies to several areas (business, school, family, society, etc.), the main quality of mediators being their ability to communicate and to create a framework for finding peaceable solutions to problems. | ||
