Considering these influences, we may wonder what the discipline of social work contributes to the social work profession. In reference to works from the German-speaking part of Switzerland, the discipline of social work is to be considered as an applied science, serving the social work profession. It must be oriented toward the resolution of problems specific to this professional field and its mandates. In the end, there is an interest in its full legitimization, especially in the struggle for resources and social justice.
