520 _aFood is a social marker, very often an invisible one, and food itself is considered an ordinary good. Food aid, which is part of the economic sector although it pretends it isn't, has exploded in recent years and involves 4.8 million people, trapped by reliance on this means of accessing food. This article deconstructs some presuppositions and proposes a move towards a food democracy.
