520 _aDoes the commitment of the social worker come down to the fact of going, doing, taking action? Is it necessarily found in a conscious, perfected approach? If they end up wondering what they are doing there, accepting their situation in “afterwardsness”, social workers will maybe succeed in giving some meaning to their practice and understanding the nature of their commitment on a daily basis. Just as this commitment manifests itself in action, aiming at making things happen, it can also take the form of withdrawal and effacement.
