Due to its originality, longevity, internal impact and external influence, it is one of the most relevant refounding projects of the Ibero-American Revolutionary Left after the Cold War. Its multiple features have led to various characterizations from political science. A general approach is offered here, through: a periodization showing the evolution over time of the Chavista movement and regime; a brief exposition of Bolivarian Socialism as its rhetorical-ideological proposal; a succinct description of the turn developed in foreign policy by the Venezuelan government after assuming the status of a revolutionary state; and a general characterization of Chavismo-Madurismo as a movement and political regime, concluding that its totalitarian orientation and features are what best define its nature in global terms. | ||
