Drawing on an original combination of two individual panel datasets (one based on the employment survey conducted by the High Commission for Planning, the other on the household panel of the National Observatory of Human Development), this article analyzes patterns of occupational mobility, in particular transitions between precarious informal employment and jobs providing access to social protection. By examining transitions to and from unemployment and inactivity, the study identifies the factors that hinder such movements: for men, initial entry into precarious employment; for women, the scarcity of accessible decent jobs, which often leads them to withdraw from the labor market and remain inactive. Conversely, higher levels of vocational training facilitate access to decent jobs.‪
