520 | _aChanges in our society have created a new danger, social isolation, that may put all of us, especially the most vulnerable, the poorest, and the elderly, at risk of facing a new kind of social suffering, that of endured solitude. Tackling this issue calls for an evolution of public intervention, which must recognize it, include it in its prevention policies, coordinate state action with the engagement of citizens, promote complementarity between volunteers and professionals, and enhance the understanding of networking schemes within a human environment. La Mobilisation nationale contre l’isolement sociale des âgés (National Mobilization against the Social Isolation of the Elderly, MONALISA) was launched in January 2014 on the basis of these elements of diagnosis and analysis. It consists of an integrated approach of engagement and cooperation, of gradual convergence of the vital forces of society in order to to attract, support, and multiply the “teams of citizens” that rebuild social links around isolated elderly people. A little over two years after its launch, the mobilization appears promising: everyone can find their place and engage in it. | ||
