520			_aTourism transition is currently a major challenge for mountain refuges and, more generally, for less developed mountains. At a time when mountain huts are undergoing a significant diversification of their activities and of their public, the owners of these structures have to cope with the effects of climate change and a significant increase in renovation costs. The multi-functional nature of the hut means that an increasing number of stakeholders are becoming involved and collaborating around this structure. As a result, we are seeing an increase in co-financing, increasingly frequent integration of the refuge in a territorial project, and more concerted efforts to diversify activities in the area. Through a study of 6 valleys and 22 huts in France and Switzerland, this article highlights the redefinition of territorial governance in the light of tourism transition. This evolution manifests itself in organisational reconfigurations characterised by an increased concertation between actors in the less developed mountains in the context of this transition.
